The Cronx Brewery Re-brand

The Cronx Brewery
Whist looking for my first design job I started off working for a local brewery bar. After working there for some time I proposed a new look to the owner.

The Cronx is a brewery located in Croydon, South London. Has a wide selection of beers & its own bar located in Box Park (Food Hall).

Although this proposed project never made it through the concept stage it was too good not to share with the world.

Logo Concept
The original Cronx logo features the Croydon skyline in a rustic and weathered style.

With the new branding I wanted to continue to show croydon landmarks. The logo I came up with was inspired by old vintage ‘greetings from’ cards. This also features one of my custom fonts.

The Range
Cronx offer a wide range of ales. This includes 5 in there core range and several seasonal beers.

For the new designs I wanted them to clearly stand out and also articulate what the type of beer is at a simple glance using colour association.

Each design had to appear on cans/bottles, keg beer pumps & Hand pulled beer pumps. Below are some of the variations I came up with.

Kotchin Blonde
The Kotchin is described as:
To Kotch: London slang; To chill out, relax, enjoy doing nothing in particular. This is the perfect beer for that.

A hoppy blonde ale brewed with Cascade hops to give it a citrus and peach aroma.

Entire Porter
Inspired by Croydon brewing heritage. Entire was a blend of ‘Three threads’ that were made by a Croydon brewery – Ale, hopped beer & tuppenny, which were mixed together by a barman in Shoreditch, where it became so popular with manual workers, later becoming known as ‘Porter’. Hints of chocolate, coffee and dark fruits on the palate.

Nektar Pale
A pale ale brewed using Marynka hops from Poland.
Hints of apricot on the nose combine with a hoppy, citrussy finish, to have you longing for more nektar.

Pop Up! Ipa
This IPA uses hops from USA & New Zealand, including Comet, Waimea and Motueka. Tons of dry hopping give it a great tropical fruit nose

Dedicated to a friend of the brewer who sadly passed away. This beer was dedicated to him and as a massive Crystal Palace fan I wanted to carry across the signature red & blue colours.

Standard Bitter
A full bodied British Ale using Pale and Crystal malts with a touch of the darker malts for depth of flavour. They use English hops for aroma and flavour.

Seasonal Range
The Cronx also offers many seasonal beers throughout the year. Below are the range of side beers. These incude:
